King Tide – Rough seas and a calm soul
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the rougher the seas, the calmer my soul. January King Tides brought some spectacular action to the Southern Oregon coast (and some incredible peace to me). What was supposed to be the calm last day ended up being a non-stop display of exploding King Tide waves.
The ocean was roiling and putting on a show. Saturday brought a lot of rain and I ended up sitting in the car for a large part of the day. I almost hesitated to go Sunday, but I couldn’t be happier that I did. The sun was out and the rain was gone! The second image was taken on Simpson’s Beach just a short walk from the main stage of Shore Acres. The uniqueness of Simpson’s Beach is that it is a small cove that is positioned so that the waves come in at an angle. This allows a much closer vantage point that not even a photo can depict. The sense of awe and power (and a little bit of fear) one feels as these waves come at you just can’t be captured – you just need to be there. Google dates for King Tides Oregon Coast. There are 3 a year – January, November, and December and plan your trip! https://shoreacres.net/

I’ll post more incredible images of the King Tide and go into depth a bit more on just why these occur. Stay tuned!
